Cornering with the Kenda Klever X/T

At least twice a year, ATV dealer and RMX Racing Managing Director Andreas Rosenlöcher takes part in competitions using his own machine. This year, the off-road enthusiast discovered the Kenda Klever X/T as the ideal tyre for his rally-capable Polaris RZR Pro R.

From the Bad Dürrenberg A9 motorway exit, it is only about two minutes to the headquarters of RMX-Racing GmbH. Here, in the western catchment area of Leipzig, Andreas Rosenlöcher offers everything that makes the heart of a quad bike and ATV rider beat faster. The entrepreneur started out selling motocross bikes in 2005. Quad bikes and side-by-side makes were added later. In addition to the well-known Ranger manufacturer from Minnesota, the dealer - who claims to be the most successful Polaris representative in Germany - now also stocks the CF Moto, Yamaha and Segway brands. RMX-Racing also carries out on-site conversions or technical upgrades of well-known brands using original components. In addition, the dealer has its own test track on which all machines can be tested and driven.

Even before he started his own business, Andreas Rosenlöcher was drawn to the racetrack and rally competitions with the quad bike – first as a spectator, later as a driver – and he still rides his Polaris RZR Pro R today, which he has prepared for rallying. Among other things, he adapted the suspension, reinforced the shock absorbers, secured the roll bars with cross struts and stabilised the sides with additional steel bars.

The lightest 8-ply UTV tyre with steel belt on the market

The rider has recently also discovered a new favourite tread. Bohnenkamp sales representative Timo Potratz had previously taken a close look at the application scenario – and recommended the Kenda Klever X/T. Andreas Rosenlöcher tried out the tyre and is now a convinced fan of the tread: "The Klever X/T from Kenda is more reliable, especially when cornering on off-road terrain, where the tyre can bear much more. And thanks to the stable side edges, there is also less slippage from the rim."

"The Kenda Klever X/T can bear more in bends."

The rough block profile of the Kenda Klever X/T is immediately noticeable. With excellent self-cleaning properties, it offers secure grip on a wide variety of surfaces and ensures maximum driving comfort, even at high speeds of up to 130 km/h thanks to its smooth running and low rolling resistance. Motorsport enthusiasts also appreciate the low weight of the tread. Despite its eight layers of fabric and a massive protector bead, the Kenda Klever X/T is one of the lightest steel-belted UTV tyres on the market.

Kenda Klever X/T: high-performance for ATVs and side-by-sides

"We have been stocking this tyre for over a year now, and with a range of 27-32 inches and 6 versions, it also covers the large sizes in the powersports segment, which are particularly in demand from drivers of certain side-by-side vehicles and buggies. The interest in the market and the sales figures for the tread are enormous," says Timo Potratz, who is responsible for the small tyre and powersports segment at Bohnenkamp. Technically, the Kenda Klever X/T is based on treads for light trucks, a traditional Kenda division. With this profile, the manufacturer not only has recreational power sport enthusiasts in mind but also commercial users who use their ATVs for agricultural and forestry work on difficult terrain. If necessary, the Kenda Klever X/T can even be fitted with spikes for optimum grip on snow and ice.

The Kenda Klever X/T at the anniversary edition of the Wroclaw Poland Rally

The tread demonstrated its capabilities with Andres Rosenlöcher as the driver in the first stages of the Breslau Poland Rally at the end of June. The original plan was for the entrepreneur and his team to spend six days travelling through a former Polish military area the size of Saxony-Anhalt – accompanied by a total of around 400 fellow participants. However, of all times at the thirtieth edition of the race, the racing driver was stopped by a technical failure. On day two, a branch flew into his gearbox – damage that was quickly repaired by his mobile workshop. But the unexpected end came the following day, when "the variator literally flew apart" around 5 kilometres after the start. The other faults with the vehicle could not be remedied on site with the on-board equipment.

However, Rosenlöcher took his elimination at the halfway point in good humour: "We had 68 starters in our category, 30 teams didn't make it across the finish line. But the Klever X/T would still have been able to go to the end and far beyond."

Side note:
At another competition on 23-24 August, the Endurance Masters race in Poland, Andreas Rosenlöcher was able to celebrate an impressive success with the Kenda Klever X/T and take first place.
The demanding track proved to be perfect for the tyres, which showed hardly any visible wear even over this distance. Rosenlöcher commented enthusiastically: "I drove over 300 km on the track that weekend and there was hardly any visible wear on the tyres. That's never happened to me before like this!"
